Candy Shorts free: exactly which episodes cost nothing
The free allowance resets with every series, not once per account. That one detail flips the answer completely, and it's why the number everyone quotes is way off.
253 episodes are free, and you don't need an account for a single one of them. Almost every series hands you its first two at no cost, and that allowance starts over with each new series, so the free catalogue is enormous. No email, no card, nothing. We counted it across all 126 openly accessible series instead of estimating. Episode three is where the wall goes up, and at that point you're looking at 12 tokens, call it $1.20.
The number everyone quotes is flat out wrong
What we actually checked
We opened every one of the 123 accessible series and read the per-episode token price off each page. The pattern holds up well but it isn't uniform, and the exceptions are the part worth your time:
| Pattern | How many series | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| First 2 episodes free | 125 of 126 | The rule |
| First 3 episodes free | 1 | The one oddball |
| Paid episodes at 12 tokens | 116 | Standard rate |
| Paid episodes at 30 tokens | 7 | All Candy Creators titles |
| 5 episodes in total | 112 | The usual length |
| More than 5 episodes | 11 | Up to 34 in one case |
So the honest summary: two free episodes nearly always, 12 tokens nearly always, five episodes nearly always, with enough exceptions that it pays to check the series you're about to put money into. Every one of them is listed with its length and price on the catalogue page.

How far the free ride actually goes
253 episodes is a serious amount of watching for nothing, and it's the genuinely good part of this deal. Because it resets per series, there's no realistic way to burn through it in one sitting.
The catch is structural rather than hidden. Every series is written so the last free episode lands on its sharpest hook. You get complete setups for free and never once a payoff. Whether that reads as a fair sample or a bait-and-switch comes down to how much you can stand cliffhangers.
Free, but invisible: the nine you can't browse
Nine series in the library don't render to logged-out visitors at all. Their artwork comes through blurred and the card gets swapped for a signup prompt. So "free without an account" and "free with a free account" cover genuinely different catalogues, 126 series against 132. If the most explicit stuff is what you came for, the free account isn't optional. More on where that line sits on the nudity page.
What it costs once free runs out
- Tokens. 12 an episode on 116 series, so 36 to finish a standard five-parter, about $3.60. On the eight premium-priced ones it's 30 an episode, so 90 tokens, around $9 for the same three episodes.
- The long series are where it adds up. A 34-episode run at 12 tokens comes to 384 tokens, roughly $38, not $3.60. Length isn't flagged anywhere obvious before you start.
- Premium. $13.99 a month, or $3.99 a month if you commit to a year ($47.88 up front, advertised at 70% off). It bundles 100 tokens a month, which is eight standard episodes. Not unlimited, despite what "unlock all premium episodes" sounds like.
Shorts and chat draw on the same token balance, so episodes eat the budget you might otherwise spend on conversations.
Token-to-dollar figures use the going pack rate of about $0.10 a token, which comes from third-party reporting rather than our own check: the token store sits behind a login we didn't create. Everything in tokens came straight off Candy's own pages.

Questions
- How many Candy Shorts episodes are free?
- 253 across the 126 openly accessible series. Nearly every series gives you its first two at no cost, and the allowance resets with each one.
- Is Candy Shorts free without an account?
- Yes, for the free episodes. No signup, no card. You only hit the prompt when you try to go past them, and nine series stay hidden until you do sign up.
- Is there a free trial of Premium?
- We didn't find one on the pages we checked. The free tier is the two episodes per series, not a time-limited trial.
- How much is a full series?
- 36 tokens for a standard five-parter, about $3.60. Eight series charge 30 tokens an episode and eleven run longer than five, so both numbers can climb a lot.
- Do free episodes expire?
- Nothing we saw points to a time limit. They read as a permanent sample rather than a trial.
